2、rroleinfuturemarketsforbiodegradablepolymersfromrenewableresources.PLAisaverybrittleandstiffpolymerwithaglasstransitiontemperatureofaround58°C.Themechanicalprop-ertiesofPLAarecomparabletothoseofpolystyrene,withanelasticitymodulusof3500MPa,amaximumtensilestrengthof50MPa.andanelongationatbreakof4
3、%.TointroducePLAintootherapplicationsrequiringothermechanicalpropertyprofiles,especiallyhigherflexibilityandhigherimpactresistance,itisnecessarytouseplasticizers.Inthisstudytheinfluenceofseveralbiocompatibleplasticizersys-temsonthemechanicalpropertiesofPLAisdetermined.Poly(ethy1eneglycol),glu-c
4、osemonoestersandpartialfattyacidestersareintroducedat2.5,5,and10wt?hintopolylactide.Themechanicalproperties,suchasimpactstrengthandthestress-strain-interrelationshipoftensiletests,showchanges,whicharediscussed.IlllTRODUCTIONviableandnoneisknowntoproducepolymersonanindustriaJscaleforpackagingapp
