3、frastructuresubsequenttoHurricaneKatrina.Numerouslessonswerelearnedfromanalysisoftheobserveddamage,andthesearereportedherein.AnumberofstructuresexperiencedsigniÞcantstructuraldamageduetostormsurgeandwaveaction.Structuralmemberssubmergedduringtheinundationwe
4、resubjectedtosigniÞcanthydro-staticupliftforcesduetobuoyancy,enhancedbytrappedairpockets,andtohydrodynamicupliftforcesduetowaveaction.Anyßoatingormobileobjectinthenearshore/onshoreareascanbecomeßoatingdebris,affectingstructuresintwoways:impactandwaterdammin
