2、dinothercountries.Thisledtoagreatdealofresearchonthepossiblecausesofthechangeinrelativewages.1Fromthematerialwehavealreadycovered,wecanidentifythreemethodstodeterminewhetherthechangeinrelativewagesisduetointernationaltrade.First,wecouldestimateaGDPorcostfunctionfortheU.S.economy,orforspeci
3、ficindustries,andcomputetheStolper-Samuelsoneffectofachangeintradedgoodsprices.Wewilldiscussthisapproachatseveralpointsthroughoutthechapter.Second,wecouldproceedasintheHeckscher-Ohlin-Vanek(HOV)modelandcomputethechangeinthefactorcontentoftradeandassociatedchangesinfactorprices.Theoreticall
