3、givenbatchprocessandtheirfailuremechanismsaremodeledsystematicallywithautomata.Thesystemmodelisthenassem-bledbyconnectingthecomponentmodelsonthebasisofagenerichierarchicalstructure.A“diagnoser”canbeconstructedaccordinglyforthepurposeofdeterminingvariousqualitativeandquantitativeperformancein

4、dices.Guidedbytheseindices,twoperformanceenhancementapproachescanbeeffectivelyapplied:(1)installingaddi-tionalsensorswhicharenotincludedinthepipingandinstrumentationdiagram(P&ID)and(2)executingextraoperationstepswhicharenotspecifiedinthesequentialfunctionchart(SFC).Threeexamplesarepresentedin
