1、ABSTRACTFromtheperspectiveofintergenerationalincomemobility,thispaperstudiestheopportunityfairnessforChineseresidentstoearntheincome.Usingthelargesampledatasetsof“ChinaHealthandRetirementLongitudinalStudy(CHARLS)-2008”conductedbyNationalSchoolofDevelopment,PekingUniversit
2、y,thispaperanalysestheintergenerationalincomemobilityofChineseresidentsandtherelationshipbetweeneducationandintergenerationalincomemobility.Byanalyzingtheincometransitionmatrixandintergenerationalincomeelasticitycoefficient,threecharacteristicsoftheintergenerationalincome
3、mobilityofChineseresidentsareconcluded:Firstofall,theintergenerationalincomemobilityofChineseresidentsislowandchildren’seconomicstatusaregreatlyaffectedbytheirparents’;Then,theintergenerationalincomemobilityinthebottomandtopincomequintileislimitedwhileitisquitemobileinthe
4、middle;Finally,theintergenerationalincomemobilityofruralresidentsislowerthanthatofurbanresidents.Exploringtherelationshipbetweeneducationandintergenerationalincomemobility,wefindthateducationplaysaveryimportantroleinincreasingintergenerationalincomemobilityofChinesereside
5、nts.Intergenerationalincomeelasticitycoefficientofhighereducationgroupislowerthanthatofnon-highereducationgroup,whichindicatesthateducationisbeneficialtoimproveintergenerationalincomemobility.Onthebasisofbinarylogisticregressionmodel,wefindthatthemoreeducationthatchildren
6、get,theeasierforthemtoenterthetopincomeclass,especiallyforchildrenfromtopincomequintilefamilies.Therefore,aconclusioncanbebasicallymade:educationisnotonlybeneficialforhigherincomeclasstotransfertheireconomicstatus,butalsoveryconduciveforthelowerclass,especiallyforthebotto
7、mclasstogetridoftheirdisadvantages.However,theformerfunctionofeducationisslightlyhigherthanthelatter.Therefore,thegovernmentshouldtakeeffortstoincreaseeducationinvestment.Inadditiontoguaranteeingthegrowthofeducationresources,moreattentionshouldbepaidtobalancingthevariouse
