3、heglass-formingtendency,thephasediagramsofglasses,ortheiroptimizableproperties.Anewtopologicaltheory,only25yearsold,hassucceededwhereconventionaltheorieshavefailed.Itshowsthat(probablyallslowlyquenched)glasses,includingnetworkglasses,aretheresultofthecombinedeffectsofafewsimplemechanisms.Theseglas
4、s-formingmechanismsaretopologicalinnature,andhavealreadybeenidentifiedforseveralimportantglasses,includingchalcogenidealloys,silicates(windowglass,computerchips),andproteins.“SomefourthousandyearsagomandiscoveredglassintheembersofafirebuiltsomewhereinthedesertsoftheNearEast.Afewyearsfromnowultratr
