2、gperiodoftime,youshouldplanonemptyingandrinsingtheburetthoroughlyattheendofeachdayorworkingperiod.3.Theburetsyouwillbeusinghaveremovableteflonstopcockplugs,whichmaybetakenoutforeaseofcleaning(see,however,9below,duringwhichoperationtheaccidentalremovalofthestopcockplugisespecially
3、disastrous).Buretcleaning/loading4.Usethesoapsolutiontocleantheburet.5.Aftercleaning,theburetisrinsedwithtapwater,andfinallywithseveralsmallportionsofpurewater(distilled,orde-ionized),includingthetip.6.Thesolutiontobeloadedintotheburetisaddedinasmall(ca.5mL)portion,andtheburetisi
4、nclinedandrotatedbyhanduntiltheentireinsidesurfaceiswettedwiththesolution.Asmallamountisdrainedoutthroughthetip,toflushit,too,andthenthesolutionisdrainedoutthroughthetopoftheburet.Repeatthisrinsing,foratotalofthreetimes.7.Loadtheburetwithsolution,toabovethetopmarking.Besuretowear
5、yoursafetygogglesduringthisoperation,sinceyouwillbeoperatingatoraboveeyelevelwitha(frequently)corrosivesolution!Drainasmallamountoutthroughthetip,removinganybubbles.Thesurfaceofthesolutionshouldbeabitbelowthetopmarking(0mL).Buretoperation:titration8.ReadtheBuret,usingacardwithabl
6、ackmark(orsomesimilardevicethatintensifiesthemeniscusoftheliquid)tothenearest0.01mL.9.Addanyneededindicatortothesolutionbeingtitrated,holdtheflaskinyour"good"hand(therighthandformostpeople),anduseyourotherhandtooperatetheburet'sstopcock.Swirltheflaskgently*asyouaddthetitrantfromt
7、heburet.10.Thehandoperatingtheburetshouldreacharoundthestopcockfromtheoppositeside.11.Occasionallyrinsedownthewallsoftheflaskwithpurewaterfromawashbottle,tomakesurethatyouaretitratingallthecontentsoftheflask.12.Remember,theburetgivesreadingsonlywithintherangeofthegraduatedportion
