2、z.Thecourseusedtogiveanoverviewoftraditionaltestingtechniques.Recently,weadaptedthecoursetocontaintwologicaltracks:onefortraditionaltestingtechniquesandoneforagiletestingtechniques.Weundertookthatstepsincestudentsshouldbegiventhechancetofeelcomfortablewithbothenvironments,whethertheywillfocusonunitt
3、ests(developertests)orfunctionandsystemtests(customertests),whethertheywillworkonatraditionally-managedproject(waterfallandcommand&control)oronanagileproject(self-organization).Thispapermotivatesthestructureofthecourseandhighlightsthepedagogicalideasthatweusedtoenrichthestudents’learningexperience.W
4、econcludewiththeresultsandanoutlookonfuturedirections.ATaleofTwoTracksAsatester,itmakesabigdifferencewhetheryouworkonatraditionally-managedprojectorwhetheryouworkonanagileproject.Onatraditionally-managedproject,youexpectdistinctphasesintheprojectdelineatedbymilestones(e.g.requirements,analysis,desig
5、n,implementation,testing,deployment;waterfall-style).Theprojectmanagerputstogetheraprojectplanwithtasksforyou,thetester.Asatester,youmayberesponsibleforthetestplan.Yousetupthetestenvironment,preparethetests,performthem,andreportontheresults.Thedevelopershandovertoyouthecode/system,youtestitandhandba
6、ckerrorreports.Youemploymainlyblack-boxtechniques.Youfocusonfunctionaltests,integrationandsystemtests.Onanagileproject,allprojectworkisdonewithintheiterationcycles,i.e.thetesterispartofthedevelopmentteam.Theteamreachesacommonunderstandingaboutwhatfeatures(e.g.functions,content,infrastructureandenvir
7、onment)totest,atwhatprojectstagethetestsshouldhappen,andwhatqualityaspectsshouldbeconsidered(e.g.functionality,reliability,usability,efficiency,performance,etc.).Asatester,youhelpthecustomerwithwritin
