1、AbstractAbstractMinutiae-basedfingerprintmatchingisthemostclassicfingerprintidentificationmethod.Buttraditionalminutiae-basedmatchingalgorithmsarechallengedbytheprobabilitythatminutiaefromdifferentregionsofdifferentfingersmaynotbewellmatched,andhenceleadtoerroneousmatchingresults
2、.Inthispaper,wecombinetheglobalinformationandtheminutiaedescriptortogenerateanewfeature-minutiaehandednessandhenceimprovethematchingperformanceoffingerprintimage.First,fitoutthedirectionfieldofthefingerprintimageaccordingtotheminutiaetemplate;second,tracktheridgeinformationaccord
3、ingtotheorientationfield,determinetheminutiaehandednesswhoseridgebendingexceedsacertainthresholdaccordingtothepositionalrelationshipoftheminutiaeandridgeendings.Therearethreetypesofminutiaehandedness:right-handed,left-handedandnon-handed.Finally,establishaSupportVectorMachinetotr
4、aintheremainingminutiaehandedness,establishamatchingrulesbetweenminutiaedescriptorandminutiaehandedness,andthencompletethematchingexperiments.AlargenumberofmatchingexperimentsareconductedontheISOtemplateprovidedbyFVC.Theexperimentresultsshow:1)Thematchingmethodusingminutiaedescri
5、ptorsandminutiaehandednessissuperiortothematchingmethodusingonlyminutiaedescriptorsinmatchingperformance.Thisprovedthattheminutiaedescriptorsandminutiaehandednesshavegoodcomplementary,andenhancethereliabilityofthematch.2)ThetrainedSupportVectorMachinemodelcanwelldistinguishintern
6、alandexternalcharacteristicsoftheridge,andextractreliableminutiaehandedness.3)Applythealgorithmtotheminutiae-basedfingerprintmatching,canachieveverygoodfusionofglobalinformationandlocalinformation,whilemaintaininggoodrejectionratewhileeffectivelyreducetheerrorrate,andimprovethepe
