1、...iii.摘要随着中美关系的日益加深，两国文化之间的碰撞和融合也在不断发生，这在很多作品中都得到体现。以《喜福会》为例，在这部小说中，美国出生并成长的孩子们，由于西方人的独立、叛逆及强烈的竞争意识，与她们母亲身上已经深深浸透的中国传统的独裁思想格格不入，因而中西方文化的冲击一触即发。这四位母亲虽然摆脱了封建制度的统治，但是她们的思想是植根于中国社会，她们想让自己的孩子在自己的驾驭之下，按照自己的想法幸福地生活。然而，那时西方的文化不是这样的。那时的西方，女子已经有获得了自由，得到了解放。在这样的情况下，文化冲突在母亲与孩子身上显现得淋漓尽致，因而，母子之间有了本不该有的烦扰。
