1、ABSTRACTABSTRACTIndigitalIC(IntegratedCircuits)design,theclocksignalismostimportant.Itplaysacriticalroleonthefunction,timingandstabilityofsynchronousdigitalsystems.Methodsoftraditionalorearlyclocktreesynthesisareexpectedtoobtainazeroskewclocktree.However,itisprovedthatzeroc

2、lockskewisnotoptimalstrategy.Clockskewcanbeusedtoimprovetimingperformanceandreliabilityofcircuits.Themaincontentsofthisthesiscanbedividedintothefollowingsections:(1)Firstly,itintroducestheoriginofclockskewandtheimpactsontimingandstabilityofcircuits.Traditionalstrategyofcloc

3、ktreesynthesisisalsointroduced.Relationshipsbetweenclockskewandminimum-periodofcircuitsareconcludedfromtheoperatingprincipalofflip-flopsandlathes.(2)Secondly,PipeliningandRetimingtechniquesoftraditionalzeroclockskewoptimizationmethodswillbeintroducedandanalyzed.Itexploresth

4、eapplicationfieldsandshortcomingsofthesetwooptimizationmethods.AndthenClockSkewSchedulingalgorithmispresentedtoimprovetimingperformance.(3)ItmainlyanalyzesandstudiestheimpactsofClockSkewScheduling(CSS)oncircuittimingandstability.TheimplementationofCSSwillbeanalyzed.Withtheh

5、elpofIBMCPLEXoptimizationsoftware,theISCAS’89circuitsarechosenasbenchmarkstoverifyandtestthealgorithmofCSS.Experimentalresultsshowthatcomparedwiththeconventionalzeroclockskewstrategy,theaverageimprovementsinminimumclockperiodforflip-flopscircuitsis28%andforlatchescircuitsis

6、14%.(4)ThisthesisanalyzestheimpactsofClockSkewSchedulingoncircuitstability.ThecompensationmethodandcostfunctionmethodoptimizestabilitywillbeimplementedandsolvedbyIBMCPLEXsoftware.Experimentalresultsshowthatthetwomethodshaveimprovedstabilityattheexpenseoftimingperformance.It

7、isimpossibletooptimizetimingperformanceandreliabilityatthesametime.(5)Usually,TheDelayInsertionmethodisusedtofixtimingviolationsandimprovestabilityduringICdesign.ThisthesisproposestheDelayInsertionUsingClockSkewSchedulingmethodtooptimizetimingperformanceandimprovecircuitsta
