Methodsoftraditionalorearlyclocktreesynthesisareexpectedtoobtainazeroskew clocktree.However,itisprovedthatzeroclockskewisnotopt
2、imalstrategy.Clock skewcanbeusedtoimprovetimingperformanceandreliabilityofcircuits.Themain contentsofthisthesiscanbedividedintothefollowingsections:(1)Firstly,itintroducestheoriginofclockskewandtheimpactsontimingand stabilityofcircuits.Traditionalstrategyofclocktreesynthesisisalsointroduced. Relatio
3、nshipsbetweenclockskewandminimum-periodofcircuitsareconcludedfrom theoperatingprincipalofflip-flopsandlathes.(2)Secondly,PipeliningandRetimingtechniquesoftraditionalzeroclockskew optimizationmethodswillbeintroducedandanalyzed.Itexplorestheapplicationfields andshortcomingsofthesetwooptimizationmethod
4、s.AndthenClockSkewScheduling algorithmispresentedtoimprovetimingperformance.(3)ItmainlyanalyzesandstudiestheimpactsofClockSkewScheduling(CSS)on circuittimingandstability.TheimplementationofCSSwillbeanalyzed.Withthehelp ofIBMCPLEXoptimizationsoftware,theISCAS’89circuitsarechosenasbenchmarks toverifya
5、ndtestthealgorithmofCSS.Experimentalresultsshowthatcomparedwith theconventionalzeroclockskewstrategy,theaverageimprovementsinminimumclock periodforflip-flopscircuitsis28%andforlatchescircuitsis14%.(4)ThisthesisanalyzestheimpactsofClockSkewSchedulingoncircuitstability. Thecompensationmethodandcostfun
6、ctionmethodoptimizestabilitywillbe implementedandsolvedbyIBMCPLEXsoftware.Experimentalresultsshowthatthe twomethodshaveimprovedstabilityattheexpenseoftimingperformance.Itis impossibletooptimizetimingperformanceandreliabilityatthesametime.(5)Usually,TheDelayInsertionmethodisusedtofixtimingviolationsa
