3、ventitaffectedtoforetell.Itwasnotavainboast,oranidleassumption,butwastheresultofadeepconvictionoftheinjusticedonePresidentJackson,andathoroughrelianceuponthejusticeoftheAmericanpeople.IfeltthatthePresidenthadbeenwronged;andmyhearttoldmethatthiswrongwouldberedresse
4、d!TheeventprovesthatIwasnotmistaken.Thequestionofexpungingthisresolutionhasbeencarriedtothepeople,andtheirdecisionhasbeenhaduponit.Theydecideinfavoroftheexpurgation;andtheirdecisionhasbeenbothmadeandmanifested,andcommunicatedtousinagreatvarietyofways.Agreatnumbero
5、fStateshaveexpresslyinstructedtheirSenatorstovoteforthisexpurgation.AverygreatmajorityoftheStateshaveelectedSenatorsandRepresentativestoCongress,upontheexpressgroundoffavoringthisexpurgation.TheBankoftheUnitedStates,whichtooktheinitiativeintheaccusationagainsttheP
6、resident,andfurnishedthematerial,andworkedthemachinerywhichwasusedagainsthim,andwhichwasthensopowerfulonthisfloor,hasbecomemoreandmoreodioustothepublicmind,andmustersnowbutaslenderphalanxoffriendsinthetwoHousesofCongress.ThelatePresidentialelectionfurnishesadditio
