4、formbetweenheavenandearth”.ItisrecordedintheBiblethatoncethewholeearthhadonlyonelanguageandfewwords.Andmanwantedtobuildatowerwithitstopintheheavens,andthentheycouldmakeanameforthemselves.Howeverwhenthelordcamedowntoseethetower,hewasunhappywithman’saction,soheconfusedtheirlanguageth
5、usmancouldnotunderstandoneanother’sspeech.Fromthenon,menscatteredoverthefaceoftheearth,andtheyleftoffbuildingthetower.”ThereforethenameofthetowerwascalledBabel,whichmeansconfusion.Andconsequentlysuchconfusionoflanguagesmakestranslationindispensableintheinter-culturalcommunications.
