3、overedforthefirsttimebyCaptainCook.Cook’slandingwasmorefortunatethanTasman’s.Infact,theEnglishnavigatortooksomePolynesianinterpreterswithhimtothelanding,throughwhomheshowedhisownfriendlinesstotheMaoris.Afteralongandarduous(艰难的)voyageacrossthePacificonboardcanoes,theMaoritribeswerethe
4、firstrealcolonizersofNewZealand,arrivingherefromtheislandsofPolynesiaaroundathousandyearsago.CanoesmadetheMaoris’lifeonthenewislandpossible.TheMaritimeMuseumisaspecialspacethatisreservedfortherestorationandexhibitionofoldMaoriboats,bothoriginalsandreplicas(复制品).Inthe19thcentury,theEn
