4、oprepareforincreasedautonomyandresponsibility,collegeneedstobeatimeofexplorationandexperimentation.Thisprocessinvolves“tryingon”newwaysofthinkingaboutoneselfbothintellectually(在思维方面)andpersonally.Whileweshouldprovide“safespaces”withincolleges,wemustalsomakeits
5、afetoexpressopinionsandchallengemajorityviews.Intellectualgrowthandflexibilityarefosteredbystrictdebateandquestioning.Learningtodealwiththesocialworldisequallyimportant.Becauseacollegecommunity(群体)differsfromthefamily,manystudentswillstruggletofindasenseofbelo
6、nging.Ifstudentsrelyonadministratorstoregulatetheirsocialbehaviourandthinkingpattern,theyarenotfacingthechallengeoffindinganidentitywithinalargerandcomplexcommunity.Moreover,thetendencyforuniversitiestomonitorandshapestudentbehaviourrunsupagainstanothercharact
7、eristicofyoungadults:theresponsetobeingcontrolledbytheirelders.Ifacceptablesocialbehaviouristoostrictlydefined(规定)andcontrolled,theinsensitiveoraggressivebehaviourthatadministratorsareseekingtominimizemayactuallybeencouraged.Itisnotsurprisingthatyoungpeopleare
