3、iscreteandhighlightednonlinearity,thereisaseriousgapbetweentheoreticalmethodsandtheirapplicationsinpracticaldesign.Thisthesispresentedresearchesonoptimaldesignofsteelframesinthreeareas,structuralsystemreliability,semi-rigidconnectionandbracing.Firstl
4、y,structuralsystemreliabilitywasconsideredinoptimaldesign,becauseitcouldreflectstructuralsafeperfectly,whichcouldbebettertoreflectthetruemeaningofstructuraloptimization.Existingmethodsonstructuralsystemreliabilitywerediscussed,andsomenewmethods--adva
5、ncedMonteCarlomethodandadvancedPNETwereproposed,whichweresuitableforcomplexstructureanalyzingusingfiniteelementmethodbasedoncharacteristicsofreliabilitymethods.NumericalexamplesshowedthatadvancedMonteCarlomethodwashighaccurate,easttoimplementandeffic
6、ient;itcouldbereflectedrelationshipbetweendifferentfailuremodesobviouslyusingadvancedPNET.ThatmethodwasmoreefficientthenMonteCarlomethod,andwassuitableforevaluatingtoastructureatpreliminarydesign.Secondly,inordertoreflectcharacteristicsoftheframeandg
7、etapraticaloptimaldesign,semi-rigidconnectionandsystemreliabilitywereconsideredinoptimization.Themathematicalmodelofreliabilitybasedonfiniteelementmethodforsemi-rigidframeandreliabilitysystemtheorywerepresented.Anexampleofframeoptimaldesignforsemi-ri
8、gidframeusinggeneticalgorithm(GA)wasshowedthroughaframestructure.Itwasshownthatwithoutreliabilityconstraint,theoptimaldesignobtainedhadaverylowreliability,evenwouldnotreachtherequiredlevelofstructuralsafetyofChinesecriterions.Itmayleadtopotentialsafe
