4、eretonight.forthecriesofpainandthehymnsandprotestsofoppressedpeoplehavesummonedintoconvocationallthemajestyofthisgreatgovernment--thegovernmentofthegreatestnationonearth.ourmissionisatoncetheoldestandthemostbasicofthiscountry:torightwrong,todojustice,toserveman.inourtimewe
5、havecometolivewiththemomentsofgreatcrisis.ourliveshavebeenmarkedwithdebateaboutgreatissues--issuesofwarandpeace,issuesofprosperityanddepression.butrarelyinanytimedoesanissuelaybarethesecretheartofamericaitself.rarelyarewemetwithachallenge,nottoourgrowthorabundance,orourwel
6、fareoroursecurity,butrathertothevalues,andthepurposes,andthemeaningofourbelovednation.theissueofequalrightsforamericannegroesissuchanissue.andshouldwedefeateveryenemy,andshouldwedoubleourwealthandconquerthestars,andstillbeunequaltothisissue,thenwewillhavefailedasapeopleand
