1、论文摘要本文从祠堂空间的原生祭祀性和次生公共性两个方面来探讨中国古代社会中祠堂曾经对居住形态所起的主导作用：并结合现代环境设计的手法来分析以祠堂为核心的传统公共空间与居住的密切关系；同时通过对比古代社会来分析现代居住中存在的种种问题，展望未来作为居住中心的公共空间的发展趋势。本文广泛采用了比较韵方法，古与今，中与西，传统与现代，力求对中国传统居住的影响因素，尤其是对居住生活与公共空间的发展关系进行全面的剖析，并结合到现代城市居住及环境设计当中。全文首先从祠堂的原生性功能——祭祀来论述祠堂的起源，并初步探讨在祭祀空间产生的早期，居住

2、与祭祀之间的关系。其次，从中国宗族社会演变及其家庭居住模式演变的角度，结合祠堂的历史演变来探讨在中国古代居住形态中，宗族以及祠堂所起的作用。第三章引用例证来分析现存中国传统村落的祠堂及其与居住的相互影响，并分析了南北村落祠堂的差异、祠堂衰落的原因以及新形式的居住中心。第四章尝试用现代的空间环境设计理论来分析祠堂以及周围的公共空间，以期寻找村落丰富的公众生活和良好居住氛围的空间要素。最后本文回顾了工业革命前后西方居住的发展历程。从中我们可以发现相对缺乏的公众空间已经被单独提炼出来成为城市居住生活的一个重要场所，而曾经在古村落和古代城
