3、manceofanadaptivefilterdependsmainlyonthealgorithmusedforupdatingthefilterweightingcoefficients.ThemostcommonlyusedadaptivesystemsarethosebasedontheLeastMeanSquare(LMS)adaptivealgorithmanditsmodifications(LMS-basedalgorithms).TheLMSissimpleforimplementationandrobustinanumberofapplicatio

4、ns[1-3].However，sinceitdoesnotalwaysconvergeinanacceptablemanner，therehavebeenmanyattemptstoimproveitsperformancebytheappropriatemodifications:signalgorithm(SA)[8],geometricmeanLMS(GLMS)[5]，variablestep-sizeLMS(VSLMS)[6,7].EachoftheLMS-basedalgorithmshasatleastoneparameterthatshouldbede

5、finedpriortotheadaptationprocedure(stepforLMSandSA;stepandsmoothingcoefficientsforGLMS;variousparametersaffectingthestepforVSLMS).Theseparameterscruciallyinfluencethefilteroutputduringtwoadaptationphases:transientandsteadystate.Choiceoftheseparametersismostlybasedonsomekindoftrade-offbe

6、tweenthequalityofalgorithmperformanceinthementionedadaptationphases.WeproposeapossibleapproachfortheLMS-basedadaptivefilterperformanceimprovement.Namely，wemakeacombinationofseveralLMS-basedFIRfilterswithdifferentparameters，andprovidethecriterionforchoosingthemostsuitablealgorithmfordiff

7、erentadaptationphases.ThismethodmaybeappliedtoalltheLMS-basedalgorithms，althoughwehereconsideronlyseveralofthem.Thepaperisorganizedasfollows.AnoverviewoftheconsideredLMS-basedalgorithmsisgiveninSection2.Section3proposesthecriterionforevaluationandcombinationofadaptivealgorithms
