1、5Ethnicity,Culture,Identity族群、文化、認同AllenChun陳奕麟Abstract:Thisisaonetermresearchseminarthataimsinthefirstinstancetoexaminethehistoryandconceptualnuancesofperson,race,ethnicity,cultureandidentificationasaframeworkforassessingtheirrelevanceandusagetotheongoingth
2、eoreticalliteratureinculturalstudiesandsocialsciences.Inadoptingacross-cultural,interdisciplinaryperspective,Iwillexaminetheramificationsofdevelopingasubjectiveandpoliticallycriticalapproachthatemphasizestheformativeinfluencesofcolonialism,nationalismandglob
3、alizationinthemakingofcontemporaryculturalidentities.Theimplicationsforpost-colonial,transnationalandpostmodernnegotiationsofvariousgenreswillinturnleadtoamoresystematicdiscussionofculturalhybridity,diasporicresistanceandthepoliticsofdifference.Thisconstitut
4、esthefirst2/3ofthecourse.Theremaining1/3willbedevotedtoanintensivescrutinyofcasestudies,whichwillhopefullyprovideaconcretefoundationforproposingindividualresearchpapers.Courseassessmentwillbebasedpredominantlyonthewritingofaresearchpaperandtoalesserextentono
