1、CommunicativeLanguageTeachinginMiddleSchoolinChina:ProblemsandSolutionsSUNLi-pingAbstract:Communicativelanguageteaching(CLT)isaninnovationinEnglishlanguageteaching.IthasbeenintroducedintoChinaformiddleschoolEnglishteachingnearlyadecade.ButwhentheCLTwasbeingempl

2、oyedinateachingsituationinChina,theeffectivenessofcommunicativelanguageteachingisnotassatisfactoryasithadbeenexpected.ThispaperinvestigatesandanalyzessomeproblemsintheapplicationofCLTinmiddleschoolinChina.AccordingtosomebasicCLTtheories,Iwillbrieflydescribesome

3、solutionstakentoovercometheproblemsandtoensureCLTshouldbecontinued.Keywords:Communicativelanguageteaching;problems;thetheoriesofCLT;suggestionsI.IntroductionCommunicativelanguageteachingisprobablythemaintrenddominatinginthelanguageteachingprofessiontoday(Chen&S

4、hu,1999:32).TheoriginsofCLTcanbetracedtoconcurrentdevelopmentinbothEuropeandNorthAmerica.ItwasintroducedintoChinaintheearly1986sandhasbecomepopular.Communicativelanguageteachingdistinguishesfromthetraditionallanguageteachingapproachwhichfocusesongrammarandsente

5、ncestructure.CLTgivesstudentsmoreopportunitiestocommunicateinEnglishinclass,henceimprovestudents’communicativecompetence.Evenmore,withChina’srecententryintoWTO,thereisanevenstrongerenthusiasmforcommunicatingwithForeigners.SoitisverynecessarytouseCLTinmiddlescho

6、olinChina.Butunfortunately,somephenomenaindicatethattheeffectofCLTisnotassatisfactoryaspeopleexpected.TherearesomedifficultiesinapplyingCLTinmiddleschoolinChina.ThispaperattemptstoclarifycertainissuesfromtheperspectiveofapplyingtheCLTinmiddleschool,analyzethefa
