4、1876.Bellneversetouttoinventthetelephoneandwhathewastryingtodesignwasamultipletelegraph.ThisoriginaltelegraphsentamessageoverdistancesusingMorsecode(aseriesofdotstappedoutalongawireinaparticularorder).Butonlyonemessagecouldgoatatime.Bellwantedtoimproveitsothatitcouldsendsev

5、eralmessagesatthesametime.Hedesignedamachinethatwouldseparatedifferentsoundwavesandallowdifferentconversationstobeheldatthesametime.Buthefoundtheproblemdifficulttosolve.Onedayashewasexperimentingwithastrawjoinedtoadeafman’sear,Bellnoticedthatwhenhespokeintotheear,thestrawdr

6、ewsoundwavesonapieceofsmokedglass.Suddenlyhehadaflashofinspiration.Ifsoundwavescouldbereproducedinamovingelectricalcurrent,theycouldbesentalongawire.Insearchingtoimprovethetelegraph,Bellinventedthefirsttelephone!Bellwasfullyawareoftheimportanceofhisinventionandwrotetohisfat
