2、fugeesandhundredsandthousandsofpeoplehavebeenslaughtered.IfthisscaleofdestructionandfightingwasinEurope,thenpeoplewouldbecallingitWorldWarIIIwiththeentireworldrushingtoreport,provideaid,mediateandotherwisetrytodiffusethesituation.Yethere,thewesternmainstreammediadoespracticallynothingtoraiset
3、hisawareness(or,theownersofthemassmediacompaniesperhapsdonotthinkitisimportantenoughtoreportextensivelyabout).Occasionalcoverageisprovided,butnotanywherenearthevolumelikewehadseenduringthebuildupandtheensuingcrisisinKosovo.MorecoverageaboutissuesconcerningAfricacanbefoundontheinternetthanthet
4、raditionalmainstreammediaoutlets,buteventhenitisnotaseasytofindtheinformation.(Sinceoriginallymakingthispointin1999,additionalwebsitesfromAfricanorganizationshaveemergedprovidingalotofinformation,aboutnews,cultures,andsoonaboutallaspectsofAfrica.EvenWesternmainstreamoutletsareprovidingmoreinf
5、ormationonAfricannews,althoughtheseareoftenverybriefandwithoutthemuchneededperspectivesandbackgroundsfrompolitical,historical,socioeconomicanglesetc.Theseperspectivesareneededtohelppeopleinthewesternnationsandelsewheretoreallybegintounderstandthesituationsandissuesinappropriatecontext.)Thereh
