2、2006.EN1338isacandidate“harmonized”EuropeanStandardandfullytakesintoaccounttherequirementsoftheEuropeanCommissionmandatesM/119,Floorings,andM/122,RoofCoverings,givenundertheEUConstructionProductsDirective(89/106/EEC),andintendedtoleadtoCEmarking.ThedateofapplicabilityofEN1338asaharmonizedEurope
3、anStandard,i.e.thedateafterwhichthisstandardmaybeusedforCEmarkingpurposes,issubjecttoanannouncementintheOfficialJournaloftheEuropeanCommunities.TheCommissioninconsultationwiththeMemberStateshaveagreedatransitionperiodfortheco-existenceofharmonizedEuropeanStandardsandtheircorrespondingnationalst
4、andard(s).Itisintendedthatthisperiodwillcompriseaperiod,usuallyninemonths,afterthedateofavailabilityoftheEuropeanStandard,duringwhichanyrequiredchangestonationalregulationsaretobemade,followedbyafurtherperiod,usuallyof12months,fortheimplementationofCEmarking.Attheendofthisco-existenceperiod,the
5、nationalstandard(s)willbewithdrawn.EN1338isthesubjectoftransitionalarrangementsagreedundertheCommissionmandate.IntheUK,thecorrespondingnationalstandardis:—BS6717:2001,Precast,unreinforcedconcretepavingblocks—Requirementsandtestmethods;andbasedonthistransitionperiodoftwenty-onemonths,BS6717:2001
