2、4AmericanApprovalofanAmericanNationalStandardrequiresverificationNationalbyANSIthattherequirementsfordueprocess,consensus,andothercriteriaforapprovalhavebeenmetbythestandardsStandarddeveloper.AnAmericanNationalStandardimpliesaconsensusofthosesubstantiallyconcer
3、nedwithitsscopeandprovisions.Consensusisestablishedwhen,inthejudgmentoftheANSIBoardofStandardsReview,substantialagreementhasbeenreachedbydirectlyandmateriallyaffectedinterests.Substantialagreementmeansmuchmorethanasimplemajority,butnotnecessarilyunanimity.Conse
4、nsusrequiresthatallviewsandobjectionsbeconsidered,andthataconcertedeffortbemadetowardtheirresolution.TheexistenceofanAmericanNationalStandarddoesnotinanyrespectprecludeanyone,whethers/hehasapprovedthestandardornot,frommanufacturing,marketing,purchasing,orusingp
5、roducts,processes,orproceduresnotconformingtothestandards.Itisintendedasaguidetoaidthemanufacturer,theconsumer,andthegeneralpublic.TheAmericanNationalStandardsInstitutedoesnotdevelopstandardsandwillinnocircumstancesgiveaninterpretationofanyAmericanNationalStand
