1、AStudyofCulturalFactorsinForeignLanguageTeachingCollegeEnglishCurriculumRequirementsdemandthatmoreattentionshouldbepaidtothedevelopmentofstudents’interculturalcommunicationcompetence(ICC).Cultureteachinghasbeenintroducedintotheforeignlanguageteachingclassroomasmoreandmoreteachersandsc
2、holarshaverealizedthatculturalcompetenceshouldbetheultimategoalforforeignlanguageteaching,thoughcultureteachingisstillinasubordinateposition,andtheapplicationoftheapproachisfarfrombeingsatisfactory.Atthepresentstage,mostofthestudyincultureteachingisgreatlyfocusedontargetculture(C2).Tr
3、aditionalthoughtinforeignlanguageteachinghaslimitedtheteachingofculturetothetransmissionofinformationaboutthepeopleofthetargetcountry,andabouttheirgeneralattitudesandsocialvalues.Forexample,introductionstotargetculturearemoreplentifulthannativecultureintextbooks,sothephenomenonofaphas
4、iaofChinesecultureappears.Basedonphilosophy,sociolinguistics,pragmatics,andinterculturalcommunication,thisstudyisdevelopedwithinterculturalcommunicationasamainframework,discussingculturalfactorsinforeignlanguageteaching.Withquantitativeandqualitativeapproaches,asurveyhasbeenconducteda
5、mongstudentswhohavethesamelevelofEnglishabouttargetlanguagecultureandnativecultureunderstandings.Thisstudyattemptstoemphasizetheinvisiblerelationshipbetweenlanguageteachingandcultureinstruction,andtoformulateawholesetofhypothesesincludingbasiclanguageteaching,cultureteaching,andstuden
6、ts’interculturalcommunicationcompetence.Theterm“culture”isdefinedasasetofcustoms,attitudes,values,andbeliefssharedbyagroupofhumanbeings,whichistransmittedfromgenerationtogenerationbyalearningprocessratherthanbiologicalinheritance.Languageisapartofcultureandasthecarrierofculture.Langua
7、geisanimportantpartofcommunicationsoitisextremelyimportanttohumaninteraction.Somesocialscientistsconsideritthekeystoneofculture.Withoutlanguage,theymaintainculturewouldnotbepossible.Ontheotherhand,languageisinfluencedandshapedbyculture;itreflectsculture.Inthebroadestsense,languageisth
