4、goingtousethesetwocountriestomakeaneconomicargumentfordemocracy,ratherthanagainstdemocracy.ThefirstquestionthereiswhyChinahasgrownsomuchfasterthanIndia.Overthelast30years,intermsoftheGDPgrowthrates,ChinahasgrownattwicetherateofIndia.Inthelastfiveyears,thetwocountr
5、ieshavebeguntoconvergesomewhatineconomicgrowth.Butoverthelast30years,ChinaundoubtedlyhasdonemuchbetterthanIndia.OnesimpleanswerisChinahasShanghaiandIndiahasMumbai.LookattheskylineofShanghai.ThisisthePudongarea.ThepictureonIndiaistheDharavislumofMumbaiinIndia.Theid
6、eatherebehindthesetwopicturesisthattheChinesegovernmentcanactaboveruleoflaw.Itcanplanforthelong-termbenefitsofthecountryandintheprocess,evictmillionsofpeople--that'sjustasmalltechnicalissue.WhereasinIndia,youcannotdothat,becauseyouhavetolistentothepublic.You'rebei
