2、lowingtwofactors:trafficflowandsafety.Thesearethemainaspectsthatwemusttakeintoconsiderationtoweighwhetherafreewayisgoodorbad.Inordertobettersimulatetheactualsituation,weestablishedasimulationmodel.WeadoptedthecoreideasoftheCellularAutomataModel,onwhosebasis,wees
3、tablishedanewmodelsuitabletothesimulationoftheperformanceonfreeway.Thekeypointofourmodelisregardingtimeandspacetobediscretewhichisactuallycontinuous.Everyvehiclemustbeincertaindiscreteposition.Inthisproblem,wedividetheroadintomanysame-sizerectangulargrids,theveh
4、iclemustmoveinafixedplace.henumberofgridsstandsforthedistance,thenumberofthegridsthatavehiclemoveperunittimestandsforit’sspeed.Accordingtodifferentrules,differentsmallmodelsarerespectivelyestablishedtostudywhichruleisbetter.Inawordthemodelwedesignedhascombinedth
5、eadvantagesoftheCellularAutomataModelandthemostimportantaspectsoftheactualsituationonthehighway.Tostudytheperformancemoreaccurately,Wehavestudiedunderthefollowingthreeconditions:1.underverylighttrafficload;2.underamediumtrafficload(normaltrafficconditions)(mainp
6、art);3.underaveryheavytrafficload.Ineachcase,wehaveanalyzedtheperformanceonfreewayanddiscussedthetrafficflowbothintheoryandbysimulation.Wehavealsocalculatedhowthedriversonfreewayguaranteetheirsafetyquantitatively.Afterthat,weexaminedtradeoffsbetweentrafficflowan
7、dsafety,andanalyzedthehoweachcaselimitthespeedandovertakingratio.Throughanalysis,wehavegotrelativelyreasonableconclusions.Differently,incase1,wegaveanactualexampletotestourmodel.Incase2,werespectivelyanalyzedthefollowingandpassingphenomenonindetail.Safetyonfreew
