3、municationresourceaccess,anEDF-likeapproachisintroduced,whichtakesadvantageofknowledgeaboutdeadlines,thenumberofremainingcommunicationactivities,andtheremainingworst-caseexecutiontimefortheinvokedmethodateachpointoftime.1.IntroductionFuturecomputersystemswill,toalargeextent,monitorandco
4、ntrolreal-worldprocesses.Thisresultsinaninevitabledemandfortimelinessandreliability.Distributedsystemswhichinherentlyprovideimmunityagainstsinglefailuresareanadequatearchitecturetomeetthegoalofreliability.Additionally,becauserealworldapplicationsoftenrequirethespatiallydistributedcontro
5、lofelectromechanicalcomponents,adistributedsystemarchitecturebringscomputingpowertothepointswhereitisneeded.Theavailabilityofinexpensiveyetpowerfulmicrocontrollerssupportsadistributedsolution.Thisresultsinasystemmodelwhichiscomposedfromsmartcomponentsimplementingtheinstrumentationinterf
6、acetotherealworldcomprisingsensorsandactuators.Aconvenientwaytomodelsuchanenvironmentistouseanobject-basedapproachwhereobjectsencapsulateallkindsofentitiesnecessarytocontrolaphysicalprocess.Wecanidentifyatleasttwolayersinsystemsinteractingwiththerealworld.Alowerresponsivesystemleveltigh
