2、thetechnicaldevelopmentsinrecentdecades,methanehazardshavenotyetbeenfullyavoided.Thisispartlyduetotheincreasingdepthsofmodernmines,wheremethaneemissionsarehigher,andalsotoothermining-relatedcircumstances,suchastheincreaseinproductionratesanditsconsequences:difficultiesincontrollingtheincre
3、asingmethanelevels,increasingmechanization,theuseofexplosivesandnotpayingcloseattentiontomethanecontrolsystems.Themainpurposesofthispaperaretoestablishsitemeasurementsusingsomecriticalparametersthatarenotpartofthestandardmining-controlmethodsforriskassessmentandtoanalyzethegasbehaviorofsub
4、verticalcoalseamsindeepminesinordertopreventgasincidentsfromoccurring.Theultimategoalistheimprovementinminingconditionsandthereforeinsafetyconditions.Forthispurpose,twodifferentmineswereinstrumentedforminecontrolandmonitoring.BothminesbelongtotheRiosa–Olloniegocoalfield,intheAsturiasCentra
5、lBasin,Spainandtheareasinstrumentedareminedviasubhorizontalsublevelsatanactualdepthofaround1000mundertheoverburdenofMountLusorio.Duringthisresearch,apropertyfavoringgasoutburstswassitemeasuredforthefirsttimeinanoutburst-pronecoal(8thCoalbed),gaspressureanditsvariations,whichcontributedtoco
6、mpletethedataavailablefrompreviouscharacterizationsandtosetsomeguidelinesforassessingthepotentialoutburst-proneareas.Agas-measurement-tubesethasbeendesignedformeasuringgaspressureaswellasitsvariationovertimeasaresultofnearbyworkingsandtocalculatepermeability.Thepaperestablishestheeffectofo
7、verlappingofworks,butitalsoshowstheefficacyoftwopreventivemeasurestobeapplied:highpressurewaterinfusionandtheexploitationofaprotectivecoalseam(7thCoalbed),thatmustbeminedpreferablytwocompletesublevelsbeforecommencingtheadvanceintheoutburst-pronecoalbed.Bothmea
