3、speciallywomenattachgreatimportancetotheirphysicalappearance.Asaresult,cosmeticsindustrybeginstoflourishandcosmeticsadvertisementsbecomeanimportantpartinourdailylives.Inordertogivepublicitytotheirproductsorservices,advertisersareingreatneedofusingsomerhetoricalme

4、anstoattractcustomers’attention.“Advertisersmayneverhavestudiedrhetoric,buttheyemploymanyofthestrategiesofthisancientarttoinfluencetheattitudesandactionsofthosewhoareexposedtotheadvertisements”(Corbett﹠Connors1999:2).Amongthesestrategies,Aristotle’spersuasionprin

5、ciplesareverypopularandwidespread.ItisafactthatAristotle’sRhetoricisregardedasthefoundationofwesternclassicalrhetoric.Inthismasterpiece,theknowledgeofpersuasionandappealingstrategies,suchas“ethos”,“logos”and“pathos”,areillustratedinasystematicandrationalway.Inmod
