3、ditasasecondforeignlanguage.Accordingtotherelativeforecast,by2050ahalfoftheworldpopulationveryfluently.Sofar,Englishhasbeenbeingusedforglobaltrade,commercialdocuments,governmentalcommnication,academicdissertation,tourism,traffictransportationandsoon.Besides,80%ofgloball
4、yelectronicinformationisstoredinEnglish.AbouttheleadingrolewhichEnglishplaysininternationalcommunicationallovertheworld,agovernmentMinisterfromSriLankaisquotedassayingthat‘foronetenthofthemoneytheypayfor“StarWars”theAmericanscangetthewholeofAsialisteningtotheirpresident
5、.EnglishteachingisabiggerweaponinthearmouryoftheEnglishspeakingpeoplesthanstarwars.’IntheviewoftheFordFoundation’slanguageprojiectsofficer,‘EnglishasaSecondLanguage(ESL)wasbelievedtobeavitalkeytodevelopmentbyIndonesia,Thailand,India,Turkey,Afghnistan,Egypt,Nigeria，Colom
6、bia,andPeru.’Infact,manyscholarsthinkthatthediscourseaccomanyingandlegitimatingtheexportofEnglishhasbeenequatedwithprogressandproserity.2.WhyisEnglishsopopualr?Inhistorytherewereseverallanguagesoncetakenasinternationallanguages.Butuptillnow,whyisEnglishthegloballanguage
