3、y;toclothethenaked;tohousethehomeless;toteachtheilliterate;toprovidejobsforthejobless;andtochoosethehumanraceoverthenuclearrace. Wearegatheredherethisweektonominateacandidateandadoptaplatformwhichwillexpand,unify,direct,andinspireourPartyandthenationt
4、ofulfillthismission.Myconstituencyisthedesperate,thedamned,thedisinherited,thedisrespected,andthedespised.Theyarerestlessandseekrelief.Theyhavevotedinrecordnumbers.Theyhaveinvestedthefaith,hope,andtrustthattheyhaveinus.TheDemocraticPartymustsendthemasi
5、gnalthatwecare.Ipledgemybestnottoletthemdown. Thereisthecallofconscience,redemption,expansion,healing,andunity.Leadershipmustheedthecallofconscience,redemption,expansion,healing,andunity,fortheyarethekeytoachievingourmission.Timeisneutralanddoesnotcha
6、ngethings.Withcourageandinitiative,leaderschangethings. Nogenerationcanchoosetheageorcircumstanceinwhichitisborn,butthroughleadershipitcanchoosetomaketheageinwhichitisbornanageofenlightenment,anageofjobs,andpeace,andjustice.Onlyleadership--thatintangi
7、blecombinationofgifts,thediscipline,information,circumstance,courage,timing,willanddivineinspiration--canleadusoutofthecrisisinwhichwefindourselves.Leadershipcanmitigatethemiseryofournation.LeadershipcanpartthewatersandleadournationinthedirectionoftheP
8、romisedLand.Leadershipcanlifttheboatsstuckatthebottom. Ihavehadtherareopportunitytowatchsevenmen,andthentwo,pourouttheirsouls,offertheirservice,andhealandheedthecallofdutytodirectthecourseofournation.Thereisaproperseasonforeverything.T
