5、ncialinstitutionsaimtointegratebanks,securityfirmsorin-surancecompanieseithertoreducecosts,ortoobtaintheoperatingbenefitsforthemaximizationofshareholders’wealth.Therearemorematuredandsuccessfulmergercasesinforeigncountries,suchas,1998theCitigroup-travelersmergera
6、nd2003BOA-FleetBostonmerger.Mostofforeignfinancialmergercasestakestrategicpolicyintoconsiderationinwayofhorizontalorverticalmerger.FollowingthedevelopmentofM&A,thefinancialinstitutionsinTaiwantrytofindsuitablepartnersformergersevenifthetargetfirmmaybeatrouble
