3、s.ItwasfirstbuiltinSouthernSongDynastyandin1253,Kublai(thefirstemperoroftheYuanDynasty)wasstationedhereonhismarchintothesouth.InMingandQingdynasties,itbecamemuchlarger.Lijiangisworldrenownedasanancientcitybuiltinasimpleandartisticstyleandscientificallylaidout.Thereisasquareinitsce
4、nter.Itwaslistedasanationalhistoricalandculturalcityin1986.GeographyLijiangCityislocatedinthenorthwesternportionofYunnanandbordersSichuan.ItisinaregionwheretheQinghai-TibetPlateau(青藏高原)andYunnan-GuizhouPlateau(云贵高原/雲貴高原)converge.ClimateOwingtoitslowlatitudeandhighelevation,thecity
5、centreofLijiangenjoysasubtropicalhighlandclimate(KoppenCwb).Wintersarenormallymild,dry,andthesunniesttimetimeoftheyear,withahighsof13.7to14.8°C(56.7to58.6°F),butduetotheariditythistimeofyear,lowsoftenfalltoaroundthefreezingmark.SpringlastsfromMarchtoearlyJuneandbeginsrelativelydry
6、andsunny,butconditionsprogressivelygetmoisterandmoreovercast.Summersarewarmanddamp,withJuneandJulymeansof19°C(66.2°F),muchcoolerthanlowlandareas.AutumnlastsfromlateSeptembertoearlyDecember,progressivelydryingout.Annualprecipitationisaround970millimetres(38.2in),almostallofitfallin
