2、verviewThequestforpedagogicallyeffectiveteachingmethodsthatareresponsivetolearner1needshasbeengoingonforseveraldecadesandhasledtonumerouseducationalmodelseducatorsoftenuseasnewinformationdisseminationtechnologygainsacceptance.Withtheadventofanysuchtechnology,expertspredictthatthis

3、new,andoftendisruptive,technologywillpositivelyimpactlearning.Forexample,withtheinventionofradiocamethepredictionthateveryschoolwouldusetheeducationalprogrammingonradiotoenhanceeducation.Thearrivaloftelevisioncarriedthepromisethattheeducationalprogramswouldmakeamajorimpacton2educa

4、tionanderadicateilliteracyworldwide.Thereisnodoubtthateverygenerationoftechnologyhasmadesomeimpact,butmostoftenthepromisestendtoexceedtheeducationalimpacts.Asweknow,thepotentialoftheWorldWideWebasaninternationalmodeofinformationdisseminationledexpertsbothfromeducationalandcommerci

5、alsectorstopredictthatonlineeducationwouldrevolutionizehighereducation.Perhapsthisisstillinourfuture,butresearchconductedbytheEDUCAUSECenterforAppliedResearch(ECAR)concludesthatmostofthe“e-learningrevolution3(sofar)isaboutconvenienceandnotlearning.”Theseexamplesoftheimpactoftechno

6、logyoneducationdemonstratethattheintroductionoftechnologyisnecessarybutnotsufficienttochangetheparadigmofeducation.Howmighttechnologybecomeanintegralpartofthepedagogicalprocesstobringaboutarealshifttowardeffectiveeducation?Whatkindsoftechnologysystemswillcontributetoahighereducati
