1、NanyueKingMuseum[Introduction]TheNanyueKingMuseum,formerlynamedNanyueTombMuseum,wassetupatthesiteofthetombofaNanyueKing,ZhaoMobyname,whostyledhimself“EmperorWen”andwasthesecondkingoftheNanyueKingdom,beingonthethronefor16yearsin137–122BC.TheNanyueKingdomwasalocalstateinSouthChinain
2、theperiodofChina’sWesternHanDynasty.Itlasted93yearswith5kingsinsuccessionandsubmittedtotheWesternHanin111BC.ThetombofZhaoMowasdiscoveredin1983,20metersundertheElephantHillatJiefangbeiRoadinGuangzhou.Withanareaofabout100squaremeters.Itisconstructedwith750blocksofredsandstones,with7
3、chambersinall.ThistombisthemostimportantHanTombsofardiscoveredinSouthChina–itssizeisthelargest,thepoliticalandsocialstatusofitsoccupantisthehighestandthenumberofhistoricalrelicsunearthedisthegreatest–andsoisconsideredasoneofthe5majorarchaeologicalfindsinmodernChina.Articlesunearth
4、edfromthetomb,totaledover1000piecesorsets,fallmainlyinto4categories:copperware,ironware,earthenwareandjadeware.Amongallthearticlesunearthed,thegoldsealinscribedwiththewords“TheSealofEmperorWen”isthemostpreciousbecauseit’sthefirstemperor’ssealsofardiscoveredinChina’sarchaeologicale
5、xcavations.NowthetombandtheunearthedartifactsareallondisplayintheNanyueKingMuseum.[GoldSeals]ThegoldsealofEmperorWenunearthedfromtheNanyueKing’stombistheonlyextantemperor’ssealleftoverfromtheQinandHanDynasties.Untilitwasexcavated,emperor’ssealsoftheQinandHanDynastieswereknownonlyi
6、nhistoricaldocuments.Moreover,theemperor’ssealsrecordinhistoricaldocumentsaresaidtobemadeofwhitejadewithahandleofatiger,butthissealofZhaoMo’sismadeofgoldwithahandleofadragon.ItwasmadeintheNanyueKingdomandwastherealthatZhaoMoactuallyusedduringhislifetime.BesidesthegoldsealofEmperor
