4、.Whileamyth--tobeviableforthecontemporarymind--mustbealignedwithourcapacityforrationalthought,myth-makingisasmuchwithustodayasitwasthousandsofyearsago.Mythis,infact,groundedinthequintessentialhumanabilitytoaddressthelargequestionsofexistenceusingsymbolism,metaphor,andnarrative.An
5、dnootherspecieshasaguidancesystemthattouchesoursforpromotingflexibilityandcreativityinrespondingtotheenvironment.Thethesistobedevelopedhereisthatanewmythologyisbeingborninthehumanpsyche.Itis,infact,alreadyseepingthroughthecracksofthemythologythathasbeenguidingWesterncivilizationf
6、orcenturies.Becauseaculture'snewmythologyishammeredoutontheanvilofindividuallives(Feinstein&Krippner,1997),theemergingmythiccontourisalsoevidentinthepsychesofmanypeoplethroughouttheworld.Andnotonlyisthemythchanging,butthemyth-makeraswell.Humanity'sabilitytomeettheworldasshape-shi
