5、ptofself-efficacystatesthatwhenanindividualthinksandfeelsasthoughheorsheiscompetentincompletingcomplextasks,thatpersonismorelikelytobesuccessful.Thepurposeofthisstudywastodeterminewhat,ifany,characteristicscontributesignificantlytofeelingsofhighself-efficacyamongcountychildw

6、elfareworkersinCalifornia,andwhetherindividualcharacteristics(suchaspersonalhistory)ororganizationalcharacteristics(suchaslevelofsupportfromadministration)weremorelikelytopredicthighlevelsofself-efficacyamongchildwelfareworkers.Secondarydatafromastudyontheretentionofchildwel

7、fareworkerswereused.Bivariatecomparisonsindicatedthatafewindividualcharacteristicsweresignificantlyrelatedtohighself-efficacy,andseveralorganizationalcharacteristicswerepredictorsofself-efficacy.Multivariateanalysis,however,indicatedthatonlycommitmenttothefieldofchildwelfare
