3、lapsebycertainseveredisturbances.Studiesofthesignificantpowersystemblackoutsindicatethat,incertainabnormaloperationsituationsarousedbybiggerdisturbances,conventionalprotectionrelaysbasedonthelocallymeasuredinputsisofeasymisoperation.Withtherecentadvancesofcommunic
4、ationtechnology,thewideareaprotectionhasbeenproposedasanapproachnotonlytoprotectcomponent,butalsotoimrpovesystemstability.Differentlyfromconventionalprotectionrelays,withtheacquisitionofwideareainformation,wideareaprotectionsystemscanmoreaccuratelydetectcomponents
5、offaultandisolatefaultsintheirsmallestareas.Inthisdissertation,thebackgroundandresearchsituationofthewideareaprotectionareintroduced,andvariouswideareaprotectionsystemsproposedatpresentaresummarized.Thecharacteristics,thefunctionmakingupandsystemstructuresarediscu
6、ssed,andapracticalwideareaprotectionsystemschemeisproposedinthisdissertation.Theanalysisshowsthatthetraditionalcriterionofcurrentdifferentialprotectionhasthedrawbackandisnotsuitforwideareaprotectionsystem.Byimprovingtherestrainingcharacteristics,animprovedcurrentd
