2、eshownthatprevalenceofdepressionindiabetesandhypertensionisaround40%ª²57%.Fewstudieshavebeendonetoscreendepressioninchronicrespiratorydisorders.ThisstudywasconductedinatertiaryruralhospitalofCentralIndiatofindoutprevalenceofdepressioninindoorpatientssufferingfromchronicrespi

3、ratorydisorders.Methods:Total68patientswereevaluatedfordepression.Patientssufferingfromchronicrespiratorydisorders(totaldurationofillness>3months)wereevaluatedusingPrimeMDQuestionnaire.Patientssufferingfromdiabetes,heartdiseases,stroke,havingpasthistoryofpsychiatricillnes

4、s,drugabusers,havinglackofsocialsupportandsufferingfromchronicupperrespiratorytractinfectionswereexcludedfromthisstudy.Questionnairewasaskedwhen8treatmentforacutephaseofillnessisover.Results:Outof68patientsevaluated,36(53%)werefoundouttobesufferingfromdepression.Femalegender

5、(80%)wasmorepronetodepression,inspiteofthefactthatallalcoholicsweremale.39%ofallchronicobstructivepulmonarydisease(COPD)patientsweresufferingfromdepressionincomparisonto65%forpulmonarytuberculosisand44%forotherchronicrespiratoryillness.54%ofpatientssufferingfromdepressionare

6、<30yrsofage,53%arebetween30ª²60yrsofageand52%are>60yrsofage,suggestingthatagehasnorelationwithdepression.Noassociationwasseenbetweenalcoholismanddepression.Conclusion:Prevalenceofdepressioninpatientsofchronicrespiratoryillnessisveryhigh,likeincasesofdiabetesandhyperten
