5、foundtimetoreadvoraciouslyinthebooksownedbyhisyoungheadmaster,WilliamTaylor,whoencouragedhiminhisinclinationforpoetry.JohnWordsworth,thepoet’sfather,diedsuddenlywhenWilliamwasthirteen,leavingtohisfivechildrenmainlythesubstantialsumownedhimbyLordLonsdale,whomhehadservedasattorneyandasstewardoft
6、hehugeLonsdaleestate.Thatharshandlitigiousnoblemanmanagedtokeepfrompayingthedebtuntilhediedin1802.WordsworthwasneverthelessabletogouptoSt.John’sCollege,Cambridge,in1787,wherehefoundverylittleinthelimitedcurriculumofthattimetoappealtohim.Hetookhisdegreein1791withoutdistinction.Duringthesummervo
