4、hicknessdecreases,accuracyincreases.Thereareavarietyoflayer-buildingprocessesusedinrapidprototyping.Themostcommonprocess,calledstereolithography,usesaphotosensitiveliquidpolymerthatcureswhensubjectedtointenselight.Curingofthepolymerisaccomplishedusingamovinglaserbeamwhosepathlaye

5、riscontrolledbymeansoftheCADmodel.Byhardeningeachlayer,oneontopofthepreceding,asolidpolymerprototypeofthepartbuilt.Virtualprototyping,basedonvirtualrealitytechnology,involvestheuseoftheCADgeometricmodeltoconstructadigitalmock-upoftheproduct,enablingthedesignerandothertoobtainthes

6、ensationoftherealphysicalproductwithoutactuallybuildingthephysicalprototype.Virtualprototypinghasbeenusedintheautomotiveindustrytoevaluatenewcarstyledesigns.Theobserverofthevirtualprototypeisabletoassestheappearanceofthenewdesigneventhoughnophysicalmodelisondisplay.Otherapplicati
