2、shuman.Therefore,Socratesismortal.Albertwasnotattheparty,sohecannothavestolenyourbag.Inthefirstargument,thefirsttwostatementsarepremisesintendedtoprovetheconclusionthatSocratesismortal.Inthesecondargument,thepremisethatAlbertwasnotatthepartyisofferedasevidencefortheconclusiontha
3、thecannothavestolenthebag.Thepremisesandconclusionofanargumentarealwaysstatementsorpropositions,'asopposedtoquestions,commands,orexclamations.Astatementisanassertionthatiseithertrueorfalse(asthecasemaybe)andistypicallyexpressedbyadeclarative~entence.~Herearesomemoreexamples:Dogs
