4、cewaswellun-emergedforthenowwidelyacceptedstandardmodelofderstoodasarenormalizablequantum®eldtheoryelementaryparticlesandforces.A``StandardModel''is(QFT)knownasquantumelectrodynamicsorQED,de-atheoreticalframeworkbuiltfromobservationthatpre-scribedinthepreceedingarticle.``Renormalizable
5、''dictsandcorrelatesnewdata.TheMendeleevtableofmeansthatonceafewparametersaredeterminedbyaelementswasanearlyexampleinchemistry;fromthelimitedsetofmeasurements,thequantitativefeaturesofperiodictableonecouldpredictthepropertiesofmanyinteractionsamongchargedparticlesandphotonscanbehithert

7、inother®elds,thestandardmodelofpar-i.e.,distancesrangingfrom108kmto1022fm.Incon-ticlephysicshasbeenenormouslysuccessfulinpredict-trast,thenuclearforcewascharacterizedbyacouplingingawiderangeofphenomena.And,justasordinarystrengththatprecludedaperturbativeexpansion.More-quantummechanic
