2、tories.TheBillappliestheLegalProfessionUniformLawasalawofVictoria,andincludesVictorian-specificprovisionsdealingwiththeVictorianentitiesthatwillperformfunctionslocallyundertheUniformLaw,andrelatedfundingandadministrativematters.TheBillmakesaseriesofconsequentialandotheramendmentstoen

3、surethattheLegalProfessionUniformLawistailoredtosuitVictoria'slegislativeenvironment.ClauseNotesPART1—PRELIMINARYClause1setsoutthepurposesoftheBill.Theseare—·toapplytheLegalProfessionUniformLawasalawofVictoria;and·toprovideforcertainlocalmatterstocomplementthatLaw;and·torepealtheLega

4、lProfessionAct2004;and·tomaketransitionalarrangementsandconsequentialamendmentstootherActs.194Clause2providesforthecommencementoftheBillonadayordaystobeproclaimed.ItdoesnotidentifyadefaultcommencementdateasthecommencementoftheLegalProfessionUniformLawistobeco-ordinatednationally.Asan

5、inter-jurisdictionalscheme,theLegalProfessionUniformLawreliesoneachparticipatingjurisdictionpassingitsapplicationlawsbeforetheagreedcommencementdate.Toallowforanycontingenciesthatmayoccurinotherjurisdictionspassingtheirapplicationlaws,nodefaultcommencementdateisset.Itisplannedtocomme

6、ncetheLegalProfessionUniformLawin Victoriaonacommonagreeddate.Clause3definescertaintermsforthepurposesoftheBill.Subclause(1)setsoutdefinitionsfortermsincludingadvocatemember,approvedclerk,LegalProfessionUniformFramework,localprofessionalassociationandnon-advocatemember.Adefinitionisa

7、lsoprovidedforthetermLegalProfessionUniformLaw(Victoria)therebyclarifyingthatthisisdistinctfromthetermLegalProfessionUniformLaw.Subclause(2)providesthatthemeaningoftermsusedintheBillandtheLegalProfessionUniformLaw(Victoria)aretohavethesamemeaningsintheBilltheyhaveinthatLaw.PART2—APPL
