5、e.Todaymanyblacksownhomesinsuburbanneighborhoods—notjustaroundWashington,butoutsideAtlanta,Denverandothercitiesaswell.That’snottheonlycommonmisconceptionAmericanshaveaboutrace.Forsomeofthemisinformation,themediaaretoblame.AreporterinTheWallStreetJournal,forinstance,writest
6、hattheeconomicgapbetweenwhitesandblackshaswidened.Heoffersnoevidence.Thepicturedrawnofracialrelationsisevenbleaker.Inonepoll,forinstance,85percentofblacks,butonly34percentofwhites,agreedwiththeverdictintheO.J.Simpsonmurdertrial.Thatraciallydividedresponsemadeheadlinenews.B
