2、inesforthediagnosisofAlzheimer’sdiseasehavebeenpublishedbythreeexpertworkgroupsspearheadedbytheAlzheimer’sAssociationandtheNationalInstituteonAging(NIA)oftheNationalInstitutesofHealth(NIH).Theworkgroupspublishedfourarticlesincludingready-to-useclinicaldiagnosticcriteriaforAlzheimer’sdiseasedement

3、iaandmildcognitiveimpairment(MCI)duetoAlzheimer’s.AresearchagendawasproposedforpreclinicalAlzheimer’s.TheuseofbiomarkersinAlzheimer’sdementiaandMCIduetoAlzheimer’swasalsoproposedasaresearchagendaonly,andisnotintendedforapplicationinclinicalsettingsatthistime.Thearticles–collectively,theNationalIn

4、stituteonAging/Alzheimer’sAssociationDiagnosticGuidelinesforAlzheimer’sDisease–expandthedefinitionofAlzheimer’stoincludetwonewphasesofthedisease:(1)presymptomaticand(2)mildlysymptomaticbutpre-dementia,alongwith(3)dementiacausedbyAlzheimer’s.ThisreflectscurrentthinkingthatAlzheimer’sbeginscreating

5、distinctandmeasurablechangesinthebrainsofaffectedpeopleyears,perhapsdecades,beforememoryandthinkingsymptomsarenoticeable.“Itisourhopethatincorporatingscientificknowledgegainedandtechnologicaladvancesmadeoverthepastquartercenturywillimprovecurrentdiagnosis,bringthefieldclosertoearlierdetectionandt
