1、Chapter1Introduction1.ResearchTopicShakespearehasbeenrecognizedasthegreatestplaywrightinBritishhistory.Inhisplays,manyfemalerolescreatedbyShakespearehaveaprofoundimpactonthescholars’conceptionoftheaftertime.Butstrangely,peoplefindthatShakespeareseemstohaveheldacontradictoryviewo
2、nwomen.Insomehisplays,womenfightbravelyagainstthefeudalautocracyandpursuevigorouslyfreedomandequality.Butinotherplays,thefemalecharactersseemtobeweakonesordestructiveones.Whydoesoneplaywrighthavesuchacontradictoryconceptonwomen?Inthepastseveraldecadesorcenturies,somescholarshave
3、studiedthisstrangephenomenon,andtheydrewtheconclusionthatindifferentperiods,thefeaturesofthefemaleinShakespeare’saredifferent.Thefemaleconceptwhichsupportsthefreedomofmarriage,speakshighlyofthehumanityliberation,andadvocatetheloveandfriendshipcouldbefoundintheplaysofShakespearei
4、nthefirstperiod.ManyfamouscharacterslikeJulietorPortiaarecreatedinthisperiod.Theirsimilarityisbraveryinpursuingtheirloveregardlessofthepressurefromtheirfamily.Soweregardtheviewasabudof“feminism”.Butinthesecondperiod,Shakespearechangeshisfemaleconceptcompletely.Inthisperiod,altho
